Physical Torture

I wanted to write this blog last nite, but my body didn’t want to cooperate. Yesterday I tortured myself by playing badminton for almost three hours in the morning and playing futsal in the night. As a result, now my right shoulder is throbbing. It’s like that I had been hit by a truck. Ok, I’m exaggerating. I haven’t been hit by a truck so I don’t know what it’s like… ;p. Ok, here we go.

I must say that last week was church week. Why? Coz I went to the church three times a week…wow. Well I attended the Ash Wednesday mass to begin this year lent. Attended the first Friday of the month mass at Atmajaya. Yup that’s right. Atmajaya. I never attended mass there. It was my first time. The church itself is located on the 13th floor. I went there with my colleagues KR n Ricky (both are alumni of Atmajaya Catholic University). The mass was lead by bule (this is how we, Indonesian, call westerner, or any other Caucasian race.. ;p) pastor, but he spoke Indonesian fluently and his sermon was very good. The essence was about the kind of fasting that God wanted us to do. After the mass we had lunch at the canteen (except me, I brought my own lunch box, so I ate after I got back to the office). Got bad news in the afternoon. I lost TELKOM tender for a training (Damn, it was Rp. 175 million tender..). So I still have to work my ass to achieve my target for this month. Later that night I went to Gadink Batavia. One of my church friend is gonna move to Kalimantan, so we made some kind of farewell dinner (if you can call eating Tahu Campur a dinner).

And then yesterday, the day of physical torture. Woke up in the morning, went to Binus to play badminton. When I was waiting for the bus I bought newspaper and I was intrigued to read the headlines about the robbery case that had been solved. The thing that made me more surprised was that the main suspect was Binus student. I was very surprised. This case can affect Binus reputation. As an alumnus, I concern about this matter. I read in the newspaper that he (his name is Fransciscus Timotius, but I just write it as he) lost in a gamble and owed some money. Then he decided to rob his own uncle to get some money to pay his debt (OMG, he robbed his own uncle????? What a sick world). He got some help from his uncle driver n then they stole his uncle’s jaguar, but not before they killed one of the maids in his uncle’s house. This was the sadistic part, they (dunno which one who did it) slashed the maids’ (there were two maids) throat, one of the maid died (God bless her soul, the newspaper also mentioned that she was possibly had been raped too before they killed her…), the other one was in a critical condition but she gave an important information to the police which helped a lot in solving the case. The police solved it in just 12 hours time.

After playing badminton I went home. Got a message from irwan, asking me if I’m interested to play futsal at AXC Gadink. I said ok and then after I ate lunch I went to sleep. Woke up, took a bath and then attended the afternoon mass at St. Jacob. After that I went to AXC with Eddy and we played futsal from 7-9 PM. I was really exhausted. I went home, checked my emails n fs account. I got a new testimonial. I read it and it was from Phoenix. I approved it n then I thanked her at YM (I already signed in to YM but I knew that she’s busy working with her project so I didn’t want to disturb her). We chatted a little. She said she was updating her blog. After that I went to sleep. I think I went straight to sleep when my head touched the pillow.

Today woke up at 8 AM, ate breakfast and then went to church for a while. Saw the pastor driving Panther in his pastor uniform. I’ve never seen a pastor driving a car before, not to mention in his uniform. I could only smile. I accompanied Eddy to get a signature. After that I went home n writing this blog. My mom just called me for lunch. It took quite some effort to go downstairs and went back up because my body is sore…..ok I have to stop now n get some rest….lol

Lent

Lent has begun. Attended Ash Wednesday mass with KR n Mbak Lina. Luckily we took the cab coz the traffic was crazy. Got some resolutions for this year lent. Yesterday talked to Rafaela n she told me surprising news. Life’s full with surprises. Eddy allowed me to practice my motorcycle driving skill using his motorcycle. I think I’m ready to use a motorcycle.

Today went like the usual way, boring. Beside the mass nothing quite eventful. It rained quite heavily tonight at about 9 PM, fortunately it didn’t rain very long, otherwise the outcome was inevitable….flood. Well.. I just thought that I should open Lent with a post on my blog.

Hopefully I can use this Lent to introspect myself to be a better person. I’m running back to you……………….God

Bryan Adams- Back To You

I've been down - I've been beat
I've been so tired - that I could not speak
I've been so lost that I could not see
I wanted things that were out of reach
Then I found you and you helped me through
yeah you showed me what to do
And that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

chorus :
Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
I know that day is coming soon - yeah, I'm coming back to you.

You've been alone, but ya did not show it
You've been in pain, but I did not know it
Let me do what I needed to - you were there when I needed you
Mighta let you down, mighta messed you round
but ya never changed your point of view
and that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

chorus

Mighta let you down, mighta messed you round
but ya never changed your point of view
and that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
And I know that day is coming soon - oooh, I'm coming back to you.

I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
That day is coming soon

I'm coming back to you....... yeah

Mix

Another boring day at office. No internet connection, my means of communication is only email, which sometimes doesn’t work. I just got another delivery failure report this morning. How am I supposed to perform if I’m not supported with necessary facilites? *sigh..Well I don’t mean to spread bad words about my current company, but that’s the condition I’m facing. Nevermind, I will be leaving this company anyway.

There are so many things I wanna write, but most of them are scattered in my mind. After watching Kate in Underworld Evolution, the following week was uneventful. But it was getting better at the end of the week. Thursday, Feb 16 was my best friend’s birthday. He gave me one of the best testimonials I’ve ever had. I also got Olga’s pictorial that day. She was stunning, a fine example of exquisite oriental beauty. Then at Friday I went and stayed at Liv’s house. Went there with Irwan, Harris and Temmy. On our way to Liv’s house, the weather was terrible. The rain was pouring down heavily and it got worse because the wind was also blowing very hard. The lightning was very scary, but we arrived safely. We ate at 24 hour KFC n then played SingStar. Played bluffing card, UNO and cap sa till 4 AM. N then we slept.

Woke up at around 8, ate breakfast together. Irwan played piano and we sang together, damn he was good. And then we played card….again. I took a bath at around 9 AM, n then we went to Hanamasa (Me, Liv, Hen, Harris n Temmy). I ate so much and felt very full. Went back to Liv’s house n then went to Gadink. Her father dropped us at Gadink mall coz he accompanied Liv’s sister to see a doctor. We went karaoke at NAV for two hours n then Liv n Hen was picked up by her father n we went home. Now they’re already in Beijing, I’m gonna see them next year. Spending time with Liv n Hen reminded me of my time in Perth. It was unforgettable experience.

Later that night I chatted with Phoenix, a girl I met from a forum in the internet. N then I went to sleep for almost 12 hours..lol. Woke up on Sunday, relaxing till afternoon n then went to St. Jacob church to attend the afternoon mass there. Went there with Jef, he waited in the car while I was attending the mass. After that we went to Willy’s wedding reception. It was very surprising when I got the news from Jef. He called me a few days earlier n told me that Willy had asked him to give an invitation to his wedding on Sunday. I barely believe it; my Jr High School friend was getting married. Wow….and he married the girl he dated since high school. I think they have dated for 5 or 6 years… Met lots of old friends at the reception. David came with his (ex????) girlfriend. Agus, Yudhi, Mansiong, Aan, Dewi, Linda, Wendy, etc. After the reception we went upstairs n played some pool till 10 sth PM n then went home.

Monday till today was boring….typical. Trying to achieve the target but it’s hard to do with the inconsistency of the email system. Went to Nestle on Tuesday n I was impressed. The office environment was very beautiful. It’s more like an elite apartment complex. Chatted w Liana in the afternoon and guess what, she invited me to join a conference, only to find that there were sicnotz, dw and kriz there….what a small world….unbelievable. Went to Permata Hijau on Wednesday, Popeye’s (SOHO) office. Went back home by bus…after a long time. Met Tendy at Slipi Jaya; I finally went in to Slipi Jaya just to pee…lol. But it was quite nice actually. Yesterday went to CIFOR (in Bogor) for the 3rd time. We were treated lunch once again by Mrs. Lely. She was very generous.
End of transmission………………………… (originally written on Feb 24, 2006)

Actually I was gonna make the following as a different post, but I think I’d just put them together as one post….so..here’s the next part….enjoy…

Weekend

Yeahhhhhhh……it’s been a marvelous weekend. Though I didn’t play badminton but I got some decent sleep. Watched John Travolta in Be Cool. A very good movie, it’s too bad that the DVD was a little bit damaged so I had to skip 20 minutes or so. There’s also Christina Milian in that movie. Her voice was incredible. And then I went to store, mom went shopping for a while. Went to MBK Church (I suppose it would be called Mary Mother of Carmel in English, but I’m not sure so I just use the Indonesian name, MBK) at 3.40 PM. Arrived there at 4.30 PM, the road at Saturday was clear. Attended the mass and I was quite surprised to know that March 1 is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. I followed the mass anxiously cause I had another plan which was go to JCC to attend the 5th Lustrum of Binus. I got the invitation (Binus was kind enough to send it to my office, I was quite flattered…) and I wanted to see what it would be like. In the invitation it said that there would be Project Pop and Titi DJ. Unfortunately the mass finished longer that I had expected. It finished at 6.30PM,while I expected it would finish at 6 PM.

So I rushed to JCC (Met LG at the parking lot, he was with Linda, his gf…another surprise ;p). Thank god I could make it on time. I arrived there at 6.51 PM but it was difficult to find parking space. I had to negotiate with the parking guy to finally get a parking space. I gave the books (we must give book(s) in order to get in to the event) and went in to Plenary Hall. At first I just went in to the tribune. I sat at the B section, next to a cute girl (yippiee), but I think the guy who’s sitting next to her other side was her bf…(grrrr……). Short story, Verra called me, we talked a bit n then I went down to ask where should I sit. I was expecting to get a VIP seat and I got it by talking a little with the usher (yeahhhh…). So I went in the Plenary Hall again, but this time I went to the ground floor, the VIP area. To my surprise I met Shanti, haven’t met her for ages. She offered me to sit next to her. She was with Albert and Mr. Freddy Purnomo, our Major Secretary. WOW!!! I hadn’t known that Shanti knew Mr. Freddy and it seemed that they knew each other quite well. So I introduced myself to Mr. Freddy and Shanti added some spice about me being one of the bla..bla..bla… and he invited us to try the buffet..WOW again. Well the show which was supposed to start at 7 PM finally started at about 8 PM. We went back to our seats and enjoyed the event. Basically it was Binus’ anniversary celebration and a promotion to show Binus improvement from it’s beginning till today.

The event was hosted by Ferdy Hasan and Indy Barens. They’re great MCs. And then Project Pop came out and sang their first song of the night, which was “Tu Wa Ga Pat”. They’re very hilarious, very entertaining. I liked them even more after watching them in live performance. After a few songs they cut it and showed fragments of Binus’ portfolio. Project Pop sang about 5 songs after their first song and after their last song, Titi DJ came and sang “Sang Dewi”. After that she sang this song that I really liked and I finally knew the title, it was “Setengah Hidupku”. The event ended at about 10.30 PM. It was unforgettable experience. I also got Mr. Freddy name card. He was interested in the .NET training.

Sunday arrived. Well I slept like a pig on Saturday night (I think I very often sleep like a pig..lol) and woke up at about 9 AM. I went to Eddy’s for a while, asking for his father’s advice about motorcycles. Then I went to gadink to meet with the Safax Gank. We met on Starbucks (yeah, our standard is Starbucks now….hahahahhahaha), ordered some coffee and omelet and we chatted there. There’re me, Winy, Aan, Ryan and Agus. Not so long after that Yuni came. We talked till about 3 sth PM n then David came with Bowo and Maria. We went to La Piazza to eat. We ate at Chatterbo CafĂ©. When I was looking at the menu, I was interested in Fish n Chips coz it reminded me of Ciccerello’s, Freo and Perth…..hmmmm *sigh. The fish n chips was good, it’s delicious. We had crazy conversation there, typical whenever there’s David n Agus around….lol. We finished eating about 6 PM; then we went karaoke on (“old”) Happy Puppy. We sang for two hours there until about 8.30 PM. Duet with David n got 99 for “Menunggumu”…Yeahhh… also got 77 for Jay’s “An Jing” . After that we went home with a promise that we should meet again in June.

Today’s another busy day. Last night I wrote application letter to UNICEF, which I hope will make the HR staff who read it touched so I can be granted an interview. I dropped my sis at her office and then went to Daan Mogot to get a driver license for motorcycles. Got there at 8 sth AM. I studied the procedure and tried to follow it. There’re some offers but it was expensive, about Rp. 420.000, so I decided to process it on my own. I followed the steps n took the written test at 10.00-10.30 AM. I met Aries when I was waiting for my written test result to be announced. We talked and ate tupat sayur together. At around 11 AM I got my result and I didn’t pass and that I have to take another written test on March. I was sure that I’d pass coz the questions were very easy. But then again who’d have known??? Aries had the same result, fail. So we tried to “change” our result and we finally made it with the “help” of a policewoman. After that we went to take the practice test.

It was just a formality, really. All of us were passed..well almost all of us. There’re also few that didn’t pass. When I looked at their disappointed face, for a moment I felt guilty coz I used money to “bent” the rule, but then again it’s the way it is. It’s how it goes. Money talks. I could see the sadness n disappointment in their faces. I understood that for some (a lot) of us, Jakarta citizen especially, Rp. 420.000,00 was quite big amount. That’s sad. There’re too many things, factors that contribute to this GIGANTIC gap between the rich n the poor. For me, spending Rp. 420.000,00 was also something that I had to consider carefully, but remembering that it’s how it is, the system is money power I didn’t have much choice, did I? So they who didn’t pass went back with their disappointed faces and we, me n Aries went to another step of the driver license processing. After that we got our picture taken and we waited for our driver license to be printed. I waited only for a while, about 10-15 minutes, and then I got my C driver license. Yeahhh…..all the efforts were worthed. We went to Setiabudi coz I had to pick up my sis. We ate at Mami, Aries went to ETOJ to say hi and I played some pool at La Forca. My sis came about 4.40 PM

That’s it. A fabulous weekend and a lesson learned today. Now all I have to do is practicing my motorcycles skills….Peace Out

Valentine

Today's Valentine's Day. I spent the whole workind hours outside office. Got a little surprise in the morning. There was a chocolate on my desk. I ate it while watching an infotainment, which gave me the chance to see Nia Ramadhani. She was cute....Went to JIEP and spent the whole working hours there. I just got a request from my cousin. She added me on her MSN contact list.
Valentine....nothing special on this Valentine. It's plain. I'm still tired, maybe because last nite I chatted with phoenix....a friend I know from WG. Well anyway, I barely felt the Valentine athmosphere today. I guess in Indonesia it's still some kind of exclusive celebration.
Valentine..... I think it's been overrated.....

Kate

Arrgghhhh….Kate was so beautiful in Underworld Evolution. She’s so mysteriously sexy in the movie. But one thing that quite bothered me that why do they had to make that sex scene. One moment they’re trying to get away from Markus, and after that they just had sex…What’s the point? Was it coz some adrenaline rush that they managed to get away from Markus? Was it coz Michael did sweet thing to keep Selene in the dark by using his ‘Sabretooth’ nails to open those paint cans and painted the windows black? Were they got carried away by that simple romantic moment? Well, I guess that just sooooo Hollywood. Typical. Not that I didn’t like seeing Kate’s skin (a lil bit jealous too watching her in that kind of scene…. ;p), but it didn’t make any point to me, just another Hollywood movie ‘spice’.

They said that January is the moment for Hollywood garbage movies, thus making a way for summer movies…which are usually excellent ones. But I liked underworld Evolution. For those who haven’t watched Underworld, they won’t be confused because the director was kind enough to give few scenes from Underworld (or was it some kind of disguised ad?). Maybe I like it because Kate’s factor (a very important factor for me…esp she looked so damn gorgeous in that latex suit. Really accentuated her slender body… *drooling), maybe I liked it because I like this kind of Vampire Werewolf story. I didn’t expect this movie to be very gore, but it really exceeded my expectation. The explosions, the gun fires, the fights, and the killing were great. The storyline was standard, nothing special about it. Just another ‘heroes saved the day’ thing by getting help from someone that they didn’t expect and got the thing they thought they’d never have (Selene finally can walk under the sunlight after she drank Alexander Corvinus’ blood, which also made her stronger, otherwise she couldn’t possibly kill Markus). With standard storyline there was nothing much to expect except for Kate and the action scenes. I would give an 8 for this movie (Am I being too generous??). Anyway, it’s good movie (No, I didn’t count the Kate factor if that’s what you worry).

Back to real world. After watching Underworld Evolution we stopped by at Diamond to but few things (Have I mentioned that I watched Underworld Evolution with my sis? Or have I been too busy complaining about that unnecessary sex scene?). After that we attended afternoon mass at St. Jacob. The mass was fast, and the main article was quite interesting. Went home and checking my laptop condition, ran some benchmark and it gave good result.

Still no words from Accenture. I’m counting my days to join them. The situation in my current company was getting worse I really think that it’s time to move on. Plus, moving to Accenture will make my resume look good and increase my chance to accomplish my long term plan….Perth. :D

Nothing special from my 23rd bday. I just thought about the things I’d accomplished in my 22nd age. I accomplished more than I had thought I would. Got a little celebration with my fellow prayer community members. Bought them a cake and we ate it together. My mom n sis got me a present which would be useful once I get the motorcycle. Lots of my friends gave their wishes…nice ones, even from the people that I haven’t met; only meet them in this forum called WG. There’s one of the beauty of friendship. I spent my Saturday the usual way. Played badminton in the morning, which gave me the chance to meet Anthony, whom I hadn’t seen since August 2005. We talked and I found out that he also sells DLink ADSL modem, beside ASUS notebooks. What a coincidence. But I also believed that this was also God’s plan. I almost didn’t go to play badminton coz I felt tired, but I pushed myself coz I would find it difficult to find another time to do some sport. Met Johanes too when I was walking to Maru2. I looked for a dictionary CD at Maru2 but they didn’t have what I was looking for, but I got something else that I didn’t plan to buy, an IBM optical, scroll, USB mouse. A perfect fit for my IBM notebook. I was very surprised when I saw it. There it was, laying in the glass display. And it was cheap too…hip hip hurray. The price was only 75K. I tested it and I found that it worked perfectly. The slim and classy IBM style design (simple elegant black) and the fabulous blue light really stood out. I was very excited. So I went back home with a smile on my face. I slept like a pig in the afternoon; maybe all the activities this week drained my battery. I was planning to go to church in Saturday, but my body betrayed me and I went on sleeping till 7 PM….lol. So I made it up by going to church today.

Back to work tomorrow. I wonder will the email work well. If it doesn’t, it will be another dull day. My only amusement at office is WG, but the inet line is really slow. Well, I don’t have any song right now. I feel sleepy. Is it a karma? Two or three days ago I said in WG to Meleena that her constant craving for sleep (which I called penyakit Kebo) is not contagious and not passed on to her child….Now I feel this constant craving for sleep…..

I’m signing out. Too sleepy to continue writing. One last word… “Kate!”
I upload this blog on Feb 14, since i can't open blogger website on Feb 12......
