Wicker Park

Just finished watching two movies, two actresses who appeared in both movies, and apparently (after watching the 3 n the original movie of the 2 one) hollywood also makes translation movies.

The first movie I watched today was Troy. Quite good, an epic one; just look at the duration. Brad Pitt really had a killer body, not like Mr. Universe, but his body was well toned. His muscles weren’t too big, but well defined. Damnnnn…. I envy him…lol

The two actresses that I was talking about were Diane Kruger and Rose Byrne. Diane also had a great body. Overall, Troy was a good movie.

The second one was Wicker Park. When I read the lines at the beginning of the movie I was intrigued coz it said that the movie was based on “L’Appartment” screenplay. I remember that it was quite old movie starred by (the lovely) Monica Belucci and her husband in real life, Vincet Cassel. At first I had to try hard to understand the plot, but after half an hour I got the whole topic. The main idea was Alexis (played by Rose Byrne, aka Briseis in Troy) who fell in love with Matthew (Josh Harnett), but Mathhew fell in love at first sight to Alexis’ friend, Lisa (played Diane Kruger, aka Helen in Troy). Alexis did everything to separate them both, but like most of Hollywood movies, it ends happily. After watching
Wicker Park, I watched L’Appartment and it was the same. Even the main character’s name was the same, Lisa. But the ending was different and Monica Belucci was far more beautiful than Diane Kruger (at least according to me). Actually European movies are good, some of them are excellent, but I think the main reason why they aren’t so popular is because of the language. Yeah, English is universal language. I use it to write my blog…hahahaha. But anyway, I like Wicker Park better than Troy. The plot was more interesting. And at the ending scene, Coldplay song’s The Scientist was played, a very good one…one of my fav….Now I need to take some nap….

Coldplay - The Scientist

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
Ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads only science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start...

All ‘bout the Money

I was shocked when I read today’s newspaper. The headline said that 3 policemen and 1 military personnel died during demonstration in Abepura, Papua. The news was horrifying, I read that the policemen was trying to open up the barricade in front of Cendrawasih Univ. The demonstrators were protesting about FreeportIndonesia. Freeport Indonesia has been there since 1967 and till now Papua can be considered as one of Indonesia region that still underdeveloped. The bountiful mineral resources that Papua have don’t contribute much to its development. I guess this is the dominant factor that really hurts Papuan. How can they experience famine (the most prominent was Yahukimo case) with all the natural resources they have? But this doesn’t allow them take it up by beating up policemen till they dead. I don’t know what‘s really going on there at the time, but seeing the picture at Kompas and reading the news made me very sad.

The policemen were only 50, while the demonstrators were 500 something. They threw large rocks and other stuffs to the policemen and because they police was outnumbered they ran, trying to save themselves from the raging mass. Unfortunately for those three officers, they tripped and fell down. The mass stomped them, kicked them and eventually threw human head sized rock to their head, while they lied helplessly from the beating n kicking. It’s very brutal. What was it all about? The policemen were just trying to do their job; I think the victims were innocent. When policemen are killed in this kind of incident, few (maybe none) people appeal for human rights violation, but when the demonstrators are injured or killed, they start complaining about human rights. What about human rights for those policemen? They’re human too. I guess I can conclude that this is all about the money. The money from the resources that Papuan should get for their province development. It’s sad, but it’s happened….and may still happens….

I can only offer my sympathy, my deep condolences for the family they left behind..God bless their souls and give strength to their family.

Meja - All 'Bout The Money

Sometimes I find another world
inside my mind
when I realise
the crazy things we do
It makes me feel ashamed to be alive
It makes me wanna run away and hide

chorus:
It's all 'bout the money
It's all 'bout the dum dum.......
And I don't think It's funny
to see us fade away
It's all 'bout the money
It's all 'bout the dum dum...
and I think we got it all wrong anyway

We find strange ways of showing
them how much we really care
when in fact
we just don't seem to care at all
This pretty world
is getting out of hand
So tell me how we fail to understand?

chorus

Cause it's all 'bout the money

chorus (twice)

In My Place, So Beautiful

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh....finally got Darren's - So Beautiful. Got it unexpectedly. I was going to copy Peterpan - Tak Bisakah to my flash disk from my colleague's PC, then when I got there Darren's was being played. I almost couldn't believe it.... I copied them right away. Here's the So Beautiful lyric. Darren has excellent voice. I wish I had voice like his....

Lately I've had the tendency to listen to mellow songs...One of them that I often listened to is Coldplay - In My Place....

Coldplay - In My Place

In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
I was lost, oh, yeah

And I was lost, I was lost
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed
I was lost, oh yeah

And yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Oh, for it

I was scared, I was scared
Tired and under prepared
But I wait for you

And if you go, if you go
Leave me down here on my own
Then I'll wait for you, yeah

Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Oh, for it

Sing it please, please, please
Come back and sing to me
To me, me

Come on and sing it out, now, now
Come on and sing it out
To me, me
Come back and sing

In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
And I was lost, oh, yeah
Oh, yeah

yeah, in my place....my fortress of solitude..it's so (sadly) beautiful...

Say Something

Haven - Say Something

I won't say anything cos I don't mean it
won't make a promise cos I won't keep it
believe me now, I'd only lie to you

Well I've said that thought a thousand times
I believe in something that I can't find
so believe me now, I'd only lie to you

now won't you say something
please say something
and believe me now, I'd only lie to you

I spend my time collecting all these scars
and I know I'm, lying by the truth that's in your charm
I hope down inside, I can't be what I'm not

*, #, #

Soooo tired…believing in something I haven’t found…so little time so much to do… 24 hours is not enough anymore….

Bandung Deui Euyyy

Today I went to Bandung for the 3rd time for a meeting. Arrived at the office early cos I got a meeting with the Logistic Manager of TTC at 9.30 AM. I had to use the cab to get to the office since the bus didn’t come after I had waited quite long. Went there w my Bus Operational Manager n Training Dept Manager. We went there at 7.30 AM and arrived at around 9 AM. After the meeting we went to Japati to meet the HR Manager of ISC, he’s in the HR Division now. We had lunch together at a restaurant called Bumbu Desa. It was great restaurant. The menu was interesting. We ordered so many food and the plus point was that we can eat the chili as much as we like….hmmmm….And for the dessert, I got Shanghai Ice. After the lunch we dropped the HR Manager off and went to Kartika Sari to buy some cookies. I didn’t buy any; nobody at home seemed to be interested in Kartika Sari. I drove the car on the way back to Jakarta. Arrived at the office at 4.30 PM. It took about 2 hours to get to the office from Bandung. Cipularang Toll Road was very useful. I drove for over than 150 kilometers and it really drained my stamina.

Went home at 5 PM (luckily my sis was the one who’s driving on the way home, I was really worn out) and then I took quick nap and at 7 sth PM went to my aunt’s house to pick up my mom. On our way back home, I saw a middle age man pulling a cart (I can’t seem to find the right word for gerobak in English..;p). It was dark and raining. Saw him reminded me of the other night a couple of years ago. I was on my way back to my friend’s place from Pantai Indah Kapuk. It was about 3 AM in the morning, I already see some men riding their bike and it seemed that they’re delivering some vegetables. These people must work hard, struggling every day just to get enough money to eat. I wonder about their future, their kids’ (if any) future. I’m sure that they also have dreams and that they don’t want to be like that forever. But can they make their dreams come true? Can they get a better living?

Remembering this remind me to be grateful for all the things I have. A family, home, good education, job, money, friends, internet. I have all these things, while they still wondering about their tomorrow. How can this be? This HUGE social and economical gap that cannot be bridged. And the sad thing is I feel helpless. It’s such a dilemma. I want to help them, but how? Giving them money? It’s not enough, I don’t have enough money to give…I know sympathy is just not enough….sigh….

Here’s Mel C’s song…a very good song about social issues….

Melanie C - If That Were Me

Where do they go and what do they do?
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.
Some people stop, some people stare.
But would they help you and do they care?

How did you fall? Did you fall at all?
Are you happy when you are sleeping underneath the stars?
When it's cold is it your hope that keeps you warm?

A spare bit of change is all that I give.
How is that gonna help when you've got nowhere to live?
Some turn away so they don't see.
I bet you'd look if that were me.
How did you fall? Did you fall at all?
Is it lonely where you are sleeping in between parked cars?
When it thunders where do you hide from the storm?

Could you ever forgive my self-pity?
When you've got nothing and you're living on the streets of the city.
I couldn't live without my phone.
But you don't even have a home.

How did we fall? Can we get up at all?
Are we happy where we are on our lonely little star?
When it's cold is it your hope that keeps you warm?

Where do they go and what do they do?
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.
