Life is a Struggle

Dewa 19 - Hidup Adalah Perjuangan

Kemenangan hari ini...
Bukanlah berarti kemenangan esok hari
Kegagalan hari ini...
Bukanlah kegagalan esok hari

Hidup adalah perjuangan tanpa henti-henti
usah kau menangisi hari kemarin

Tak ada yang jatuh dari langit
Dengan cuma-cuma
Semua usaha dan do'a
Kebenaran hari ini
Bukanlah berarti kebenaran saat nanti
Kebenaran bukanlah kenyataan

Hidup adalah perjuangan tanpa henti-henti
usah kau menangisi hari kemarin

Hidup adalah perjuangan
Bukanlah arah dan tujuan
Hidup adalah perjalanan

A very good song from Dewa, one of my favorite Indonesian bands. Life is a struggle. We must struggle each day in our life. Set our goals and struggle hard to reach them. But don’t forget to sit back sometimes to relax, recharge ourselves.

Dramatic Ending

YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Wohoooooooooooooooo!!!!
Another fine day….wayyyy tooo fine….. Italia really made my day. After a long n exhausting day at work (it was a lil better thanks to a long chat w Moet). Italy was facing Australia tonight. Both teams played very well on the first half. Italy had two golden chances, first from Gilardino whose kick was saved by Schwarzer and the second was left footed shot from Toni, again saved by the feet of Schwarzer though he already moved in the wrong direction. Australia had their chance from Chipperfield but Buffon showed his skills in keeping Italian goal save.

And the unfortunate event happened just a few minutes in the second half. Marco Materazzi, Italian hero in the match versus Czech was sent off after he tackled Marco Bresciano. It was a straight red card. Italy went down to ten men. Arghhhh…. I was starting to worry. And Australia really used their advantage, but Buffon demonstrated why he was named the best goalkeeper in the world. Toni was replaced by Barzagli after Materazzi was sent off. Then Totti came in, replacing Del Piero who hadn’t showed distinct contribution (too bad for him…). Australia kept on attacking. And when it seemed that the match would go to extra time, Italy got a penalty…Yes, after holding on with ten men from the beginning of the second half and being forced to defend like crazy, Italy got a chance to turn the situation. It was Fabio Grosso’s attempt which yielded in that penalty. He was rushing from Australian right wing and brought down by Australian defender (Well…I’m not really sure about the foul). The referee pointed at the spot and I almost scream… YEAHHHHHHHH….

Totti stepped up to take the kick. I felt lots of feelings. Anxious, Excited, Worry, they’re all mixed up. It seemed like my heart pounded at 300 bpm. I could feel jolts of electricity on my face. I was quickly taken back to 1994 World Cup final when Baggio stepped up to take the kick, to Euro 2000 semifinal when Totti was also stepping up to take the kick against Netherland (at that time Italy was also playing with only ten men). The camera focused on Totti’s eyes….I was sure that it would be the last chance Italy had in the normal time. Totti took the kick and scored. 1-0 for Italy YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

a well taken penalty kick by Totti, ensuring Italy went to quarter final

I raised my fist in ecstasy. And then I was quite surprised coz Totti was hugged by his team mates and the Italian officials. It turned out that the penalty was really the last action of the game. What a dramatic ending….n then the camera shot Australian players faces. They seemed very sad and still couldn’t believe that they lost, right on the end of normal time. To some of them (like Viduka, Aloisi, and Kewell maybe), this would be their last world cup. But in a game there’s always been the winning and losing side. Unfortunately Australia was on the losing side.

Another fine day….continuation from yesterday…..Ahhhhhh…now I can sleep with some peace in mind, just like what Alfie said in Alfie (a movie that I just watched yesterday)…..Thank you, God….for this truly dramatic ending…but it’s not the end of the journey, Italy still have to face Swiss or Ukraine in the quarter final and then face Germany or Argentina in the semifinal….then final awaits….. God bless Italy so they can be the world champion again…..that’s the perfect ending….for me lolz….

A lil bit addition, four Italy goals were scored by subtitute players. In their first match in the World Cup finals campaign, Vincenzo Iaquinta scored one goal and Italy won 2-0. In their last match of group stage versus Czech, both goals were scored by subtitute. Materazzi scored Italy first goal of the match just after 7 minutes he got into the pitch. The second goal of the match was scored by Inzaghi, which sealed Italy's 2-0 victory . And in the match against Australia, Totti who came into the field on the 75th minute scored Italian winning goal from the spot kick. The interesting part is, Italy won in these three matches. They couldn't win against USA even when they had numerical advantage (in that match, there's no goal from Italian subtitute). They could only get a 1-1 draw. Hmmmmmm........intriguing, huh??

a different angle of the penalty

Del Piero hugged Totti, celebrating his goal

Italian team and officials celebrate their success advancing to the quarter final. Is that Ciro Ferrara wearing maroon shirt on the right side???

Don't forget Budweiser Man of The Match, Gianluigi "Gigi" Buffon

Fine Day

The spring flower of the story
Floats from that year when it was born
Swinging on a swing in childhood
Following memories always swaying till now

ruay sou sou si dou si
la sou la si si si si la si la sou

Playing the prelude, watching the sky, I remember the petal trying to fall

That day when I skipped class for you
That day when flowers fall
That classroom
How come I couldn’t see
Vanished under rainy day
I really want to be drenched again
Never thought that I still keep the courage that I have lost
Really want to ask again
Will you wait or leave?

This day of the typhoon
I tried to hold onto your hand
But yet
Rain gradually
Became heavy to the point that I cannot see you
How much longer
Before I can be at your side?
Waiting for that day when it clears up
Maybe I will be a bit better
In the past, in the past
There was someone who loved you for a long time
But yet
Wind gradually
Blows the distance really far apart
Not very easily
Once again able to love a day more
But the end of the story it seems like you still say bye-bye

I’ve been addicted to this song since the first time I heard it. I've never been addicted to a song like this since my addiction to Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved. I wonder how come I didn’t notice this song earlier. I had the album, but somehow I missed it. The melody is simple n has this kind of sad vibe…mellow..the lyric is excellent… I must give it to Jay Chou. He’s brilliant. Love this song.

Writing this blog while chatting w Moet…Yes she’s currently infatuated with Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portugese rising star (well, he’s already rising, let’s just see how high he’ll rise). Have long n very interesting chat w her. She’s having her summer holiday.

Yesterday bought a bunch of DVDs…watched two of them, Firewall and Alfie. Firewall was a very good thriller; Harrison Ford played the role very well. And there was Mary Lynn Rajskub aka Chloe O’Brien in 24. She played a different role there, but I still saw her as Chloe..I guess I watched 24 too much. Alfie was a simple comedy with a clear message for guys. The story was about a guy, Alfie who managed to stay single and unattached. He had lots of flings with women and he thought he’s happy with his condition, till he got that killer blow..which made him questioning his life…the end was great though it’s still hanging.

Another Fine Day today…

Another 24

Today’s Yuni’s bday. It’s been a year since my Gianicera post. Lately I have this urge to tell her. Maybe there’s a part of me that still wondering what was she feeling at the time (though it doesn’t matter anymore..it’s in the past), what she meant with her letters. But on the other hand I think, what’s the use of telling her. What do I expect by telling her? So I can move on? Haven’t I moved on? *sigh.. (currently, Jay Chou’s song Kai Bu Liao Kou is being played….what a coincidence) . Yeah, seven years is not a short time. What would her reaction be if I told her? I dunno… I really dunno. Will it make our friendship awkward? I accepted the fact that she just considered me as a friend a long time ago… there’s no point of telling her… but….. *sigh…..

Anyway, today’s been great. Played badminton again and I felt energized. Though I slept at 2 AM yesterday (or should I say this morning), after a long chat with a new friend who really need someone to talk to. Yesterday was also the first time in my life I stayed at the office till 10 PM, thanks to the internal sharing session and a little test case. I still feel tired…I need a nice, decent sleep.

Well, this post is dedicated for her who had been my OOA for quite some time. Happy birthday, wish you a successful year ahead. Best wishes for you…..always.

Here’s some of the lyric of Jay’s song I mentioned earlier….
Yeahh I could only watch from far away…coz the person beside her was (and is) not me…

就是開不了口
jiu shi kai bu liao kou
讓她知道
rang ta zhi dao
我一定會呵護著妳
wo yi ding hui he hu zhe ni
也逗妳笑
ye dou ni xiao
妳對我有多重要
ni dui wo you duo zhong yao
我後悔沒
wo hou hui mei
讓妳知道
rang ni zhi dao
安靜的聽妳撒嬌
an jing de ting ni sa jiao
看妳睡著一直到老
kan ni shui zhao yi zhi dao lao
就是開不了口
jiu shi kai bu liao kou
讓她知道
rang ta zhi dao
就是那麼簡單幾句
jiu shi na me jian dan ji ju
我辦不到
wo ban bu dao
整顆心懸在半空
zheng ke xin xuan zai ban kong
我只能夠遠遠看著
wo zhi neng gou yuan yuan kan zhe
這些我都做得到
zhe xie wo dou zuo de dao
但那個人已經不是我
dan nei ge ren yi jing bu shi wo

That is I cannot speak
To let her know
I will definitely scold loudly protecting you
I will also tease you to laugh
You are very important to me
I regret
Not letting you know
Quietly listening to you acting like a spoiled child
Looking at you sleeping
Constantly until when we’re old
That is I cannot speak
To let her know
That is such a few simple words
I am unable to manage
The whole heart hanging in mid air
I can only
Watch from far away
These I can accomplish
But that person is already not me

And The Moffatts’ song, Miss You Like Crazy..a song that brings fond memories. (I know it’s kinda lame…but hey…Moffatts was in that time…lolz)

The Moffatts - Miss You Like Crazy

I used to call you my girl
I used to call you my friend
I used to call you the love
The love that I never had

When I think of you
I don't know what to do
When will I see you again

chorus:
I miss you like crazy
Even more than words can say
I miss you like crazy
Every minute of every day
Girl I'm so down
When your love's not around
I miss you, miss you, miss you
I miss you like crazy

You are all that I want
You're all that I need
Can't you see how I feel
Can't you see that my pain's so real

When I think of you
I don't know what to do
When will I see you again

chorus

Girl I'm so down
When your love's not around

chorus

I miss you like crazy (4 times)

Yeahh.. I used to miss her like crazy…miss her….miss her…. But now I miss my sleep….so much, *going to bed…

I'll Bet Jesus Was Cool

Savage Garden - I'll Bet He Was Cool

You know every once in a while
I shoot the breeze I spend my time
I talk about silly things
I like to talk about Jesus Christ
Cos I wonder what would happen if He passed you by

Would you be scared?
Would you believe in Him?
Would you bust your asses to get Him institutionalized?
Well, I bet he'd be cool

I bet He be damn good looking
I bet that He smelt divine
I'm not talking about Calvin Klein's Obsession
Just one of those people smell good all the time
There's no reason why
What would He wear
Would He wear Tommy Hilfiger?
Or prefer Urban Outfitted?
I don't think so
Well, I bet He liked Gaultier
But you'd never find Him in it
I bet He liked Gaultier

*:
Lord I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction

You know every once and a while
I shoot the breeze I spend my time
I talk about silly things
And tonight I'd like to talk to you about Jesus Christ
'Cos I wonder how we'd deal if He just passed you by

I bet He'd be a star
I bet my star wars figures He would be a movie star
A Quentin Tarantino next-big-thing
Prima donna, then He'd appear on Oprah
You know what? I don't think so
Could you imagine Him hanging Piccadilly Circus
Time Square, the walk of fame
At Christies He could easily become a regular
D'you know what? I don't think so
I bet my speeder bike He'd turn his back on all of that

*

Some people have just got it
You know like standing next to Elvis Presley
Well then multiply that feeling by 1 million
And you know what I'm talking about
Well I'll bet He was cool
Man I bet that cat was so damn good looking

this song says it all.... Lord I need your protection spend some time in my direction

Grazie Dio, Forza Italia

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…. I’m in euphoria right now. Italy won 2-0 against Czech Rep. The goals were scored by Marco Materazzi at 26th minute and Filippo Inzaghi at 87th minute. Materazzi goal was an example of a fine set piece. He headed the ball into the net from Francesco Totti corner, maximizing his 193cm height. The second goal came after an Italian player dispossessed the ball from a Czech player in the midfield and they quickly assembled a counter attack that unleashed Inzaghi clear from any Czech defenders, went one on one with the Petr Cech (The Czech goalkeeper), went around him and drove the ball into an empty net. 2-0 for Italia. A goal that surely sealed Czech fate to go home early. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Forza Italia…… Not so long before that, Inzaghi missed a header that supposed to be the second goal for Italy, but he really made it up with his goal….Later, Materazzi was named Man of The Match. He deserved it since he just came on the pitch for about 8 minutes after Alessandro Nesta had to be brought off due to groin injury, he scored a crucial goal when Italia was under pressure, a goal that turned the table around.

Materazzi (#23) rose high above the other players to score Italia first goal of the match

Pippo scored Italia second goal after her went around Petr Cech

Well, anyway, watching the game really raised my spirit. Italia showed a fighting spirit that they didn’t show (or have?) in their match against USA. They won in ball possession and shots on goal. And they players were diligent to guard every inch of their ‘area’. It rejuvenated me after a not too good day. I had some problems with the internet connection which made me unable to update my blog at office and I had to assist in delivering the training coz the participants were too many. But it all wiped away watching Italia play.

I hope Italia can advance through the final and become the World Champion. I’ve been waiting for 12 years since last time Italia went through to the final. Back in 1994 when “Il Divino” Roberto Baggio wore the talismanic # 10 shirt, Italia went through the final after a dramatic journey from the group phase to semifinal. He was the man that made Italia went through to final, but unfortunately he was brutally (in my opinion) tackled by Bulgarian defender, Trifon Ivanov (yeah, I still remember his name, the one who injured my Baggio) in the semifinal. The injury made him unable to give his best contribution against Brazil in the final and the most painful moment was watching his penalty kick went up very high above the crossbar. Brazil won the shootout and became the first country in history who won the World Cup four times (later they added their fifth title in 2002 World Cup, thanks to stunning performance of Ronaldo). In the last world cup Italia was eliminated after South Korean defeated them 2-1. South Korean surprised the world in that World Cup. They’re really a meteor… (Meteor Ginseng….lol…you gotta understand Indonesian and know that at that time, Meteor Garden was very popular here to understand why Meteor Ginseng term is very funny). I really hope Italia can win their fourth title in this year World Cup. Still a long way to go…so Forza Italia….show your fighting spirit…….

Talking about soccer always make me excited. I remember Father Sindhunata’s column in yesterday Kompas. In short, he wrote that everybody’s longing for something divine in their soul, such as peace, happiness, joy (which was supposed they got from a spiritual experience involving God). Que madmodum desiderat cervus ad fonts aquarum, ita desiderat anima mea adte, Deus (Like a deer longing for a fountain, so is my soul longing for You, God). But people find the fulfillment of their longing in so many things, one of them is in soccer. It’s a very interesting article. I’m gonna try to find it again and write it down here.

Back to Italia. Their match against Czech was also brought some complication remembering some of the players play in the same club. For example Pavel Nedved (Czech) who plays for Juventus along with Gianluigi Buffon, Gianluca Zambrotta, Fabio Cannavaro and Mauro Camoranesi from the Italia side. But playing for country and club is two different things and they showed their professionalism by giving their best and put aside their friendship coz they’re rivals on the pitch. After the match ended, Nedved exchanged shirt with Cannavaro, his teammate in Juventus. It’s kinda sad watching Nedved, which is a hero for Juventus, an Italian soccer club in a defeated side. Another conflict of interest was between Buffon and Alena Seredova, his fiancée. Alena is a Czech supermodel (what is it between soccer player n supermodel?? do they have some kind of unwritten agreement that they should date each other???? lolz....). She was supporting Italia in their opening match against Ghana…. Can you imagine that? * big grin

Alena wearing Italia shirt on Italia VS Ghana match... ;p

Now I can sleep with a wide smile on my face, knowing Italia advance to the next round and they don’t have to meet Brazil which is likely to be the group champion. Once again, Grazie Dio…..

Forza Italia!

Help Me

Here I am, sitting in my new workplace. The good thing from my new job is that I got a laptop which I can bring back home. I finished my training yesterday and now I dunno what to do. That’s the downside of this new job. I only know my job desc vaguely. Well in the contract it’s SAP Programmer but the training I got was for the end-user and I think I’m gonna be supporting the user. I’m soooooo bored. Don’t have much to do (in fact, nothing to do).

I even got the time to make some modification to my blog. Now it has search engine to search my previous posts and a hit counter. I even added footer. I dunno if I’m gonna like this job or will it inline with my long term goal. I don’t feel like it’s the right one. *sigh I know I should give it a time, but I’m not sure about it.

Well.. I guess I’ll just go along n keep my other options available. I think I’m experiencing what Phoenix said in her blog…between two choices and I’m still unsure which one to choose, yet it burden me thinking I might be making the wrong decisions.

….Help me make the right decisions, know which way to turn, lessons to learn, and just what my purpose is here….

I really could use some sleep now, got this terrible headache (I think it’s caused by my uncomfortable chair and desk position)

This is (in my opinion) the best song Nick Carter has ever sung. The lyric is absolutely great...

Nick Carter - Help Me

I wish I could define
All the thoughts that cross my mind
They seem too big for me to choose
I don't know which one's to lose
When I've fallen down so far
I think I'll never see your light
Bouncing off of me and
Shining down here from your eyes

Chorus:
Help me
Figure out the difference
Between right and wrong
Weak and strong
Day and night
Where I belong
Help me
Make the right decisions
Know which way to turn
Lessons to learn
And just what my purpose is here (Just what my purpose is here)
Oh yeah

It's like I got the signals crossed
With messages I can't decode
Half asleep, never wide awake in a (or) ya know
Complete overload
I got so much information here
And nothing I can really grasp
I should know the truth
But I'm too afraid so I have to ask

Chorus

Wanna know you
More than anything
I need you
In my every dream you're there for me
You love me
For who I am
No angel
Just an ordinary man

**:
Help me figure out
Why I'm stuck in the middle
Tryin to understand why
I can't quite
It's such a riddle
Got my eyes crossed
Thinkin so hard
And I know I'm missin the mark

Can you help me sort out
All this information
I'm just wrackin my brain
Payin attention
But I'm still lost
And at all costs
I (I)
I gotta know (I gotta know)
Oh

Chorus, **
