Wicker Park

Just finished watching two movies, two actresses who appeared in both movies, and apparently (after watching the 3 n the original movie of the 2 one) hollywood also makes translation movies.

The first movie I watched today was Troy. Quite good, an epic one; just look at the duration. Brad Pitt really had a killer body, not like Mr. Universe, but his body was well toned. His muscles weren’t too big, but well defined. Damnnnn…. I envy him…lol

The two actresses that I was talking about were Diane Kruger and Rose Byrne. Diane also had a great body. Overall, Troy was a good movie.

The second one was Wicker Park. When I read the lines at the beginning of the movie I was intrigued coz it said that the movie was based on “L’Appartment” screenplay. I remember that it was quite old movie starred by (the lovely) Monica Belucci and her husband in real life, Vincet Cassel. At first I had to try hard to understand the plot, but after half an hour I got the whole topic. The main idea was Alexis (played by Rose Byrne, aka Briseis in Troy) who fell in love with Matthew (Josh Harnett), but Mathhew fell in love at first sight to Alexis’ friend, Lisa (played Diane Kruger, aka Helen in Troy). Alexis did everything to separate them both, but like most of Hollywood movies, it ends happily. After watching
Wicker Park, I watched L’Appartment and it was the same. Even the main character’s name was the same, Lisa. But the ending was different and Monica Belucci was far more beautiful than Diane Kruger (at least according to me). Actually European movies are good, some of them are excellent, but I think the main reason why they aren’t so popular is because of the language. Yeah, English is universal language. I use it to write my blog…hahahaha. But anyway, I like Wicker Park better than Troy. The plot was more interesting. And at the ending scene, Coldplay song’s The Scientist was played, a very good one…one of my fav….Now I need to take some nap….

Coldplay - The Scientist

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
Ask me your questions
Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads only science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start...

All ‘bout the Money

I was shocked when I read today’s newspaper. The headline said that 3 policemen and 1 military personnel died during demonstration in Abepura, Papua. The news was horrifying, I read that the policemen was trying to open up the barricade in front of Cendrawasih Univ. The demonstrators were protesting about FreeportIndonesia. Freeport Indonesia has been there since 1967 and till now Papua can be considered as one of Indonesia region that still underdeveloped. The bountiful mineral resources that Papua have don’t contribute much to its development. I guess this is the dominant factor that really hurts Papuan. How can they experience famine (the most prominent was Yahukimo case) with all the natural resources they have? But this doesn’t allow them take it up by beating up policemen till they dead. I don’t know what‘s really going on there at the time, but seeing the picture at Kompas and reading the news made me very sad.

The policemen were only 50, while the demonstrators were 500 something. They threw large rocks and other stuffs to the policemen and because they police was outnumbered they ran, trying to save themselves from the raging mass. Unfortunately for those three officers, they tripped and fell down. The mass stomped them, kicked them and eventually threw human head sized rock to their head, while they lied helplessly from the beating n kicking. It’s very brutal. What was it all about? The policemen were just trying to do their job; I think the victims were innocent. When policemen are killed in this kind of incident, few (maybe none) people appeal for human rights violation, but when the demonstrators are injured or killed, they start complaining about human rights. What about human rights for those policemen? They’re human too. I guess I can conclude that this is all about the money. The money from the resources that Papuan should get for their province development. It’s sad, but it’s happened….and may still happens….

I can only offer my sympathy, my deep condolences for the family they left behind..God bless their souls and give strength to their family.

Meja - All 'Bout The Money

Sometimes I find another world
inside my mind
when I realise
the crazy things we do
It makes me feel ashamed to be alive
It makes me wanna run away and hide

chorus:
It's all 'bout the money
It's all 'bout the dum dum.......
And I don't think It's funny
to see us fade away
It's all 'bout the money
It's all 'bout the dum dum...
and I think we got it all wrong anyway

We find strange ways of showing
them how much we really care
when in fact
we just don't seem to care at all
This pretty world
is getting out of hand
So tell me how we fail to understand?

chorus

Cause it's all 'bout the money

chorus (twice)

In My Place, So Beautiful

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh....finally got Darren's - So Beautiful. Got it unexpectedly. I was going to copy Peterpan - Tak Bisakah to my flash disk from my colleague's PC, then when I got there Darren's was being played. I almost couldn't believe it.... I copied them right away. Here's the So Beautiful lyric. Darren has excellent voice. I wish I had voice like his....

Lately I've had the tendency to listen to mellow songs...One of them that I often listened to is Coldplay - In My Place....

Coldplay - In My Place

In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
I was lost, oh, yeah

And I was lost, I was lost
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed
I was lost, oh yeah

And yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Oh, for it

I was scared, I was scared
Tired and under prepared
But I wait for you

And if you go, if you go
Leave me down here on my own
Then I'll wait for you, yeah

Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Oh, for it

Sing it please, please, please
Come back and sing to me
To me, me

Come on and sing it out, now, now
Come on and sing it out
To me, me
Come back and sing

In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
And I was lost, oh, yeah
Oh, yeah

yeah, in my place....my fortress of solitude..it's so (sadly) beautiful...

Say Something

Haven - Say Something

I won't say anything cos I don't mean it
won't make a promise cos I won't keep it
believe me now, I'd only lie to you

Well I've said that thought a thousand times
I believe in something that I can't find
so believe me now, I'd only lie to you

now won't you say something
please say something
and believe me now, I'd only lie to you

I spend my time collecting all these scars
and I know I'm, lying by the truth that's in your charm
I hope down inside, I can't be what I'm not

*, #, #

Soooo tired…believing in something I haven’t found…so little time so much to do… 24 hours is not enough anymore….

Bandung Deui Euyyy

Today I went to Bandung for the 3rd time for a meeting. Arrived at the office early cos I got a meeting with the Logistic Manager of TTC at 9.30 AM. I had to use the cab to get to the office since the bus didn’t come after I had waited quite long. Went there w my Bus Operational Manager n Training Dept Manager. We went there at 7.30 AM and arrived at around 9 AM. After the meeting we went to Japati to meet the HR Manager of ISC, he’s in the HR Division now. We had lunch together at a restaurant called Bumbu Desa. It was great restaurant. The menu was interesting. We ordered so many food and the plus point was that we can eat the chili as much as we like….hmmmm….And for the dessert, I got Shanghai Ice. After the lunch we dropped the HR Manager off and went to Kartika Sari to buy some cookies. I didn’t buy any; nobody at home seemed to be interested in Kartika Sari. I drove the car on the way back to Jakarta. Arrived at the office at 4.30 PM. It took about 2 hours to get to the office from Bandung. Cipularang Toll Road was very useful. I drove for over than 150 kilometers and it really drained my stamina.

Went home at 5 PM (luckily my sis was the one who’s driving on the way home, I was really worn out) and then I took quick nap and at 7 sth PM went to my aunt’s house to pick up my mom. On our way back home, I saw a middle age man pulling a cart (I can’t seem to find the right word for gerobak in English..;p). It was dark and raining. Saw him reminded me of the other night a couple of years ago. I was on my way back to my friend’s place from Pantai Indah Kapuk. It was about 3 AM in the morning, I already see some men riding their bike and it seemed that they’re delivering some vegetables. These people must work hard, struggling every day just to get enough money to eat. I wonder about their future, their kids’ (if any) future. I’m sure that they also have dreams and that they don’t want to be like that forever. But can they make their dreams come true? Can they get a better living?

Remembering this remind me to be grateful for all the things I have. A family, home, good education, job, money, friends, internet. I have all these things, while they still wondering about their tomorrow. How can this be? This HUGE social and economical gap that cannot be bridged. And the sad thing is I feel helpless. It’s such a dilemma. I want to help them, but how? Giving them money? It’s not enough, I don’t have enough money to give…I know sympathy is just not enough….sigh….

Here’s Mel C’s song…a very good song about social issues….

Melanie C - If That Were Me

Where do they go and what do they do?
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.
Some people stop, some people stare.
But would they help you and do they care?

How did you fall? Did you fall at all?
Are you happy when you are sleeping underneath the stars?
When it's cold is it your hope that keeps you warm?

A spare bit of change is all that I give.
How is that gonna help when you've got nowhere to live?
Some turn away so they don't see.
I bet you'd look if that were me.
How did you fall? Did you fall at all?
Is it lonely where you are sleeping in between parked cars?
When it thunders where do you hide from the storm?

Could you ever forgive my self-pity?
When you've got nothing and you're living on the streets of the city.
I couldn't live without my phone.
But you don't even have a home.

How did we fall? Can we get up at all?
Are we happy where we are on our lonely little star?
When it's cold is it your hope that keeps you warm?

Where do they go and what do they do?
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.
They're walking on by. They're looking at you.

Flying Without Wings

Just got back from karaoke session w the usual member, David Cabo, Bowo n Eddy Kambing. We sang for three hours. After I finished writing “physical torture”, David called me at around 1 PM and suggested that we go to NAV at that time. I said ok, n then I called Eddy to let him know about this change of plan (the initial plan was at 3 PM). He said ok and that he would come later. I went to NAV by public transport. Man it was very hot. I was sweating, my shirt was almost soaked with sweat. Arrived there at almost 2 PM, called David, he said he was at the mall. I checked in for two hours, using the free pass that I had and the rate was still cheap at the time (from 12 – 6 PM we get 50% discount….yippie). Got room #22 and David came just when I was about to go upstairs. We went in together, the first song was Sheila on 7 “Kita” and then not so long after that Eddy called me; I told him our room is #22 n then he came with Bowo. Bowo came by himself, usually he’s always with Maria, his gf. We sang and talked about lots of things. And then I sang Westlife’s “Flying Without Wings” and I really liked the lyric. It was very good one.

Westlife - Flying Without Wings

Everybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You'll find it in the strangest places
Places you never knew it could be
Some find it in the face of their children
Some find it in their lover's eyes
Who can deny the joy it brings
When you've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

Some find it sharing every morning
Some in their solitary lives
You'll find it in the words of others
a simple line can make you laugh or cry
You'll find it in the deepest friendship
The kind you cherish all your life
and when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

So impossible
as they may seem
You've got to fight
for every dream
'cause who's to know
which one you let go
would've made you complete

Well, for me it's waking up beside you
To watch the sunrise on your face(on your face)
To know that I can say I love you
At any given time or place
It's the little things that only I know

Those are the things that make you mine
And it's like flying without wings
'Cause you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings

And you're the place my life begins
and you'll be where it ends
I'm flying without wings
And that's the joy you bring

I'm flying without wings

I think it’s true. We’re all looking for that something, the one thing that makes our life complete, whole (maybe not just one thing, but I’m sure in those special things there’s one thing that matters the most). And we all find our “special thing” in different places. Everyone finds it in their own unique way. I’m too still looking for that special thing. It reminded me of Phoenix’s blog title, “Road to Happiness”. I believe we have different definition or standard of happiness. We find our happiness in different ways. But to get there we must try, like Westlife’s song, We gotta fight for every dream, coz how should we know which one (dream) we let go that will make us complete. I’m so lucky to have great friends, like the ones I went karaoke with. They make my life more colorful…;p

After singing for three hours we ate nasi goreng ati ampla….hmmmmm yummy (minus Eddy who had to go home early coz he wanted to go to church). I hope I won’t have sore throat tomorrow….my body is sore enough….;p Well I’m gonna update my blog n upload the new, fresh from the digicam pic to my FS account.

So….Have you found that special thing(s)?

Physical Torture

I wanted to write this blog last nite, but my body didn’t want to cooperate. Yesterday I tortured myself by playing badminton for almost three hours in the morning and playing futsal in the night. As a result, now my right shoulder is throbbing. It’s like that I had been hit by a truck. Ok, I’m exaggerating. I haven’t been hit by a truck so I don’t know what it’s like… ;p. Ok, here we go.

I must say that last week was church week. Why? Coz I went to the church three times a week…wow. Well I attended the Ash Wednesday mass to begin this year lent. Attended the first Friday of the month mass at Atmajaya. Yup that’s right. Atmajaya. I never attended mass there. It was my first time. The church itself is located on the 13th floor. I went there with my colleagues KR n Ricky (both are alumni of Atmajaya Catholic University). The mass was lead by bule (this is how we, Indonesian, call westerner, or any other Caucasian race.. ;p) pastor, but he spoke Indonesian fluently and his sermon was very good. The essence was about the kind of fasting that God wanted us to do. After the mass we had lunch at the canteen (except me, I brought my own lunch box, so I ate after I got back to the office). Got bad news in the afternoon. I lost TELKOM tender for a training (Damn, it was Rp. 175 million tender..). So I still have to work my ass to achieve my target for this month. Later that night I went to Gadink Batavia. One of my church friend is gonna move to Kalimantan, so we made some kind of farewell dinner (if you can call eating Tahu Campur a dinner).

And then yesterday, the day of physical torture. Woke up in the morning, went to Binus to play badminton. When I was waiting for the bus I bought newspaper and I was intrigued to read the headlines about the robbery case that had been solved. The thing that made me more surprised was that the main suspect was Binus student. I was very surprised. This case can affect Binus reputation. As an alumnus, I concern about this matter. I read in the newspaper that he (his name is Fransciscus Timotius, but I just write it as he) lost in a gamble and owed some money. Then he decided to rob his own uncle to get some money to pay his debt (OMG, he robbed his own uncle????? What a sick world). He got some help from his uncle driver n then they stole his uncle’s jaguar, but not before they killed one of the maids in his uncle’s house. This was the sadistic part, they (dunno which one who did it) slashed the maids’ (there were two maids) throat, one of the maid died (God bless her soul, the newspaper also mentioned that she was possibly had been raped too before they killed her…), the other one was in a critical condition but she gave an important information to the police which helped a lot in solving the case. The police solved it in just 12 hours time.

After playing badminton I went home. Got a message from irwan, asking me if I’m interested to play futsal at AXC Gadink. I said ok and then after I ate lunch I went to sleep. Woke up, took a bath and then attended the afternoon mass at St. Jacob. After that I went to AXC with Eddy and we played futsal from 7-9 PM. I was really exhausted. I went home, checked my emails n fs account. I got a new testimonial. I read it and it was from Phoenix. I approved it n then I thanked her at YM (I already signed in to YM but I knew that she’s busy working with her project so I didn’t want to disturb her). We chatted a little. She said she was updating her blog. After that I went to sleep. I think I went straight to sleep when my head touched the pillow.

Today woke up at 8 AM, ate breakfast and then went to church for a while. Saw the pastor driving Panther in his pastor uniform. I’ve never seen a pastor driving a car before, not to mention in his uniform. I could only smile. I accompanied Eddy to get a signature. After that I went home n writing this blog. My mom just called me for lunch. It took quite some effort to go downstairs and went back up because my body is sore…..ok I have to stop now n get some rest….lol

Lent

Lent has begun. Attended Ash Wednesday mass with KR n Mbak Lina. Luckily we took the cab coz the traffic was crazy. Got some resolutions for this year lent. Yesterday talked to Rafaela n she told me surprising news. Life’s full with surprises. Eddy allowed me to practice my motorcycle driving skill using his motorcycle. I think I’m ready to use a motorcycle.

Today went like the usual way, boring. Beside the mass nothing quite eventful. It rained quite heavily tonight at about 9 PM, fortunately it didn’t rain very long, otherwise the outcome was inevitable….flood. Well.. I just thought that I should open Lent with a post on my blog.

Hopefully I can use this Lent to introspect myself to be a better person. I’m running back to you……………….God

Bryan Adams- Back To You

I've been down - I've been beat
I've been so tired - that I could not speak
I've been so lost that I could not see
I wanted things that were out of reach
Then I found you and you helped me through
yeah you showed me what to do
And that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

chorus :
Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
I know that day is coming soon - yeah, I'm coming back to you.

You've been alone, but ya did not show it
You've been in pain, but I did not know it
Let me do what I needed to - you were there when I needed you
Mighta let you down, mighta messed you round
but ya never changed your point of view
and that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

chorus

Mighta let you down, mighta messed you round
but ya never changed your point of view
and that's why I'm comin' back to you... yeah

Like a star that guides a ship across the ocean
That's how your love will take me home back to you
And if I wish upon that star - someday I'll be where you are
And I know that day is coming soon - oooh, I'm coming back to you.

I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
I'm coming back to you
That day is coming soon

I'm coming back to you....... yeah
